Bu çalışmanın amacı, modern sonrası dönemde sanatta temsil ve gerçeklik sorununu tarihin/toplumsalın/sanatın sonu tartışmaları bağlamında açıklayabilmektir. Batı düşüncesi içinde erken modern dönemde biçimlenen tarihin/toplumun/sanatın sonu tartışmaları 1960 sonrası sosyal teoride ortaya çıkan yeni eğilimlerde daha güçlü bir şekilde hissedilmeye başlamıştır. Bizzat modern toplumun ürünü olan modern sanat, modernliğin krizlerinden geniş ölçüde etkilenmiştir. Son yıllarda modern Batı değerlerinin dekadanlaşmasına paralel olarak sanatta herhangi bir gerçekliği yansıtma ya da temsil etme iddiasından vazgeçerek bizzat kendi varoluşuna saldırır duruma gelmiştir. Batının mevcut çıkarlarından vazgeçmeden yeni bir gelecek kurma ihtimalinin olmaması, var olan modern sistemin kaotik ve krizli yapısına rağmen devam etmesi isteği hem toplumsalın hem de sanatın varoluşunun zeminini ortadan kaybolmasına yol açmıştır.
The purpose of this study is to explain the problem of representation and reality in art in the post-modern era due to argumentations about the end of history, sociality and art. These argumentations were formed in the pre-modern era and were influenced by the Western thought but they began to be felt more extensively in new tendencies in Social Theory after 1960. Especially Modern Art, the product of modern society, was widely affected by the crisis in modernism. Parallel to the decadence of modern western values in the last years, Modern Art gave up any claim to reflect reality or representation in art and appeared to assault its own existence. The lack of opportunity to build a new future without given up the being Western advantages, gave rise to lose the ground of existence of both, sociality and art, which again both wanted to continue their being despite the chaotic and attacking structure of the existing modern system.
