XIX. yüzyıl sonrası gündeme gelen “toplumların ruhu” açıklaması ile “zamanın ruhu” açıklamaları birlikte ortaya çıkmıştır. Bunlara bağlı olarak ortaya çıkan kültür/tarih temelli Alman ruhu, Rus ruhu, Türk ruhu, Japon ruhu gibi tanımlar zamanın ruhuyla hem ortaklık hem de farklılık taşımıştır. “Türk ruhu” kimliğinin bunlarla ilişkisi yanında değişik bir yönünü belirtmek gerekir. Cumhuriyet’in kuruluşunda, üzerinde coşkuyla ortak olmak ve paylaşmak istediğimiz gerçeklik “Türkiye’nin Ruhu”dur. Kemal Tahir ve Baykan Sezer “Türkiye’nin ruhunu” hem ortaya koymuşlar hem de kendi şahıslarında temsil etmişlerdir. Kemal Tahir - Baykan Sezer tarihimizin temel özelliklerinden yola çıkarak yeni bir açıklama ortaya koymuşlardır. Bu açıklamalar sadece bir bilgi olarak kalmamaktadır, kullanılır bir biçim kazanmıştır.
The notion of a “national spirit” or “the spirit of the times,” which emerged post the 19th century, introduced concepts like the German spirit, Russian spirit, Turkish spirit, and Japanese spirit, each embodying elements both shared with and distinct from the spirit of their era. In the context of these ideas, it's important to highlight a unique aspect of the “Turkish spirit.” This spirit, particularly resonant at the founding of the Republic, represents a reality that was eagerly embraced and shared with great enthusiasm. Kemal Tahir and Baykan Sezer not only articulated this concept of "Turkey's Spirit" but also embodied it in their personas. They presented a new interpretation, drawing from the fundamental characteristics of our history. These interpretations transcended mere informational content, evolving into a practical and applicable form.
