The term conservatism finds itself in modern society. Especially in the pre-French Revolution period, being conservative doesn't make much sense. Today, however, post-modern man has convinced himself that he does not have the power to change the world. Disbelief in change is the greatest conservatism. In the historical process, conservatism has also changed itself. Conservatism has gained importance in today's society. In this study, a historical review of the state of conservatism is presented.

In the pre-modern era, humanity respected the higher one. He saw the world as a magical place to be explored. This magical world offered a vast field for human beings. So much so that this situation was even reflected in Hegel's philosophical thoughts. However, with the modern period, there is the disappearance of the sacred. The magic of the world disappeared with the modern period. Humanity has lost its curiosity towards the world. This has made life unpleasant. In this article, the subject of "the magic of the world" has been examined.

Concepts and facts are not used as a group of ordinary metrics in a text and are not used as innocently and spontaneously as it is thought. As the bearer of a paradigm, the reflector of an image, or the natural missionary of an epistemology, they can be put in a position that may contradict their own ontology. In this article, the drawbacks and alternative ways of this situation are examined. Whether epistemological alternatives are possible or not has been examined.

Today, we live in a “surveillance society”. The reason why surveillance has come to the fore is the emergence of non-individual and rules-based surveillance. There are also conveniences brought by the surveillance society. However, besides the size of the problems, these conveniences can be ignored. Surveillance society offers great power to the observer. The observer now knows everything about everyone. The observed individual should always be cautious. Surveillance has now moved from the public to the private sphere. Surveillance is the main subject of dystopian texts. There is no privacy of the individual in the surveillance society. The individual is known with everything he does and this situation is felt to him. With surveillance, existing forces can maintain their existence. In this article, these situations are examined and presented in detail.

The concept of authority is very important in sociology. As long as people lived in society, they felt the urge to obey. This obedience brought authority with it. The concept of authority is defined as a person whose power is accepted. Why did people feel the need to accept someone else's power over them? Is this an addiction or a state of fear? What exactly is the connection of authority with force and violence? Is there authority where there is violence and oppression, or is it due to weakness of authority? What makes authority legitimate in society? In this article, answers to these questions are sought. The importance of the concept of authority has been emphasized and care has been taken to explain this situation.

In this article, the paradoxical and ironic situation of the existence of the individual in the framework of monitoring and controlling the entire privacy of his life for the sake of security in the global surveillance societies developed on the basis of the information society is examined. In order to be safe, it is permissible for power centers to control the individual and society in the "big brother" design depicted in Orwell's novel "1984". In this context, the ontological paradoxical motto of the individual in the surveillance society is to take for granted the fact that "I am being watched, therefore I am". Power centers do not only include state institutions. The market actors of the neo-liberal order, the commercial establishments of the "temples of consumption" observe all the privacy of the individual in his daily life. Internet, credit card, mobile phone, etc. With information-surveillance devices, the individual experiences the reality of "Biri Bizi Gözetliyor" in every aspect of his life. In fact, we are in a complete global lockdown. Inspired by Foucault's concept of the "Great Confinement," the state of global confinement in postmodern times is the hallmark of authority in the surveillance society.

Today, the understanding of scientific method is being destroyed. Postmodern societies fundamentally criticize science and the method used by science. However, postmodernity has no alternative to what it criticizes. In this respect, postmodernism only erodes the current situation. This indicates the end of the Western world. The West is stuck at the point of solutions it can bring. This blockage occurred after a long period of time. In this article, the impasse of the West has been examined through the method. The effects of Feyerabend's thoughts on the Western world were discussed and the current situation was presented.

Our universities lost their autonomy many years ago. Before 1933, universities had a system within themselves. During this period, the university was in complete freedom of thought. He was aware that his aim was to do science and he was working on this. However, in the following periods, universities were sacrificed to politics. Their autonomy was taken away and they became dependent on the state. Today, universities, together with YÖK, are in serious trouble. Universities that do not have their own autonomy are unable to produce science correctly.
Today's world is dominated by certain Western (military, political, commercial, cultural) institutions. However, despite the prevalence of Western domination all over the world, Western identity and solution are limited to a certain civilization and interests. This contradiction or contradiction also determines and distorts the understanding of social sciences. The formation features of social sciences and their tendencies towards universality should be looked at in terms of science and power relations. The absolutization and generalization of the domination and supremacy of the Western world, which emerged in a certain period, also shapes the understanding of history and society. Nor can we count this as the manifestation of a Western-centred conservative, racist, chauvinistic and discriminatory understanding. Western socialism, which undertakes (failed) the responsibility of understanding and transforming the world, is in the same contradiction. The necessity of the relations between the West and non-Western civilizations, the effort to evaluate the differences depending on the superiority and dominance of the West in a certain period shape the world view.

Throughout history, societies have been constantly on the move. This movement is not only limited to physical movement, but also takes place in an intellectual sense. There has been a response to an authority figure as well as conformity to it. Western expansionism in the modern world has given rise to the movement of many societies. Western expansionism and the desire to expand have led societies to resist it. In this case, each society was able to respond within the framework of its own worldview and possibilities. Today, however, the situation is different. Social movements in the past have left their place to new social movements. These movements have changed and transformed with the societies that can adapt to the new order. In this article, the examination of new social movements is presented.

In this study, we will discuss the relationship between globalization and Islamism. We will test our views on the subject through the ISTOC Trade Center Site and mosques. İSTOÇ Trade Center Site and mosques are an example that allows discussion of the effects of globalization, which came to the fore after 1980, on market relations and religion. The rising US-oriented globalization trends in the world have led to the emergence of a new form of conservatism, global-conservatization, instead of modern-conservatism. In this period, while the modern nation-state structure and identity were discussed, cities came to the fore as the source of global sovereign relations and control. The new changes that have emerged in Istanbul (from the Golden Horn Bridge to the Çamlıca Mosque, from the rearrangement/pedestrianization of Taksim Square to the new closed-site understanding, from the evacuation of Suriçi to unmanned-touristy attempts to move to new industrial-commercial sites. many changes) within the framework of the foundations and characteristics of globalization. It is possible to argue through the example of İSTOÇ Trade Center Site and mosques that the changes that have emerged in this direction are actually the reinforcement of the USA-oriented globe-conservatization.

The reasons why sometimes "avant-garde" imitation buildings and sometimes mixed stylistic applications are used with formal selectivity in today's architectural examples in Izmit in order to be different are quite complex and varied. The background of the subject in Izmit and its surroundings, where the most intense examples of imitation architectures are located, needs to be examined. From this point of view, the reasons for the emergence of "modernist architectural examples" and "avant-garde" imitation structures that go a little further and cannot be caught in each building construction in Izmit will be the subject of this article.

The phenomenon of modernization is presented to the Eastern civilizations as a recipe. The misconception that being like a Westerner will increase the welfare level of the world is imposed. However, the phenomenon of modernization does not always provide these acceptances. Japan is today the most Western of all Eastern civilizations. In this novel, there is actually a conflict between modernization and traditional culture. Japanese culture and Turkish culture contain important similarities. That's why the stories told in the novel touch us.
