Sosyoloji, Batı'dan kaynaklanan ve Batı kaygılarıyla şekillenen bir bilimdir. Türkiye sosyolojinin önemini kavramış ve en eski sosyoloji kürsüsüne sahip ender ülkelerden biri olmasına rağmen, Türk sosyolojisi dünyada önemli bir konumda olmamıştır. Sosyoloji, Türkiye'de kimliğini savunurken tarihin genel akışı ve gidişatı içinde görev ve sorumluluklarını öne çıkarmak zorundadır. Doğu-Batı çatışması görüşü, bu açıdan Batı sosyolojisinin sınırlamalarının üstesinden gelinmesine olanak tanır. Baykan Sezer sosyolojisi sadece bizim için değil tüm dünya için bir şanstır. Bu çalışmada bu tartışmalardan hareketle yeni dünya düzeninde sosyoloji ve temsil sorunu ele alınacaktır.
Sociology is a science originating from the West and shaped by Western concerns. Although Turkey has grasped the importance of sociology and is one of the rare countries with the oldest sociology chair, Turkish sociology has not been in an important position in the world. While defending its identity in Turkey, sociology has to emphasize its duties and responsibilities within the general flow and trend of history. The view of the East-West conflict allows to overcome the limitations of Western sociology in this respect. Baykan Sezer sociology is a chance not only for us but also for the whole world. In this study, based on these discussions, sociology in the new world order and the problem of representation will be discussed.
