Kemal Tahir, Türk edebiyatının önemli isimlerinden biri olmasının yanı sıra düşünce dünyasının da etkili düşünce üreticilerindendir. Öyle ki O’nun düşünceleri kendisinin vefatından sonra da toplumsal düşünce dünyamızı etkilemeye devam etmiş, sosyoloji geleneğimizde bir akımın temellerini oluşturmuştur. Kemal Tahir’in üzerinde durduğu konulardan biri de Türkiye’nin batı(lı)laşması sürecidir. Kemal Tahir, bu sürece eleştirel yaklaşır ama O’nun yaklaşımı diğer eleştirel yaklaşımlarda gözlenebileceği gibi yüzeysel ve şekilsel değil, kendi düşünce akışı içerisinde sağlam toplumsal temellere dayalı bir eleştiri denemesidir.
Kemal Tahir is one of the important names of Turkish literature as well as one of the influential thought producers of the world of thought. So much so that his thoughts continued to influence our world of social thought after his death, forming the foundations of a movement in our sociology tradition. One of the issues that Kemal Tahir focuses on is the process of westernization of Turkey. Kemal Tahir approaches this process critically, but his approach is not superficial and formal as can be observed in other critical approaches, but an attempt at criticism based on solid social foundations in his own flow of thought.
