Kemal Tahir, Türk edebiyatında romanları aracılığıyla sosyal bilim icra etmiş bir yazarımızdır. Bir sosyal bilimci gibi metot kurmuş ve Türk toplum yapısı, tarihi üzerine uygulamıştır. Burada ele aldığı konular içinden devlet, eşkıyalık ve Şeyh Bedreddin temaları seçilerek yazarın aykırı bakışı sergilenmiştir. Batılı devlet teorisinden farklılaşmış “Kerim Devlet” önerisi ele alınmıştır. Eşkıyanın adalet dağıtıp, adil bölüşümü sağlayan, Robin Hood örneğindeki gibi soylu soyguncu değil adi bir hırsız olduğunu vurgulamıştır. Solun duygusal bir yaklaşımla yücelttiği Şeyh Bedreddin’in siyasal zaaflarını ortaya koymuştur. Hazır, kalıplaşmış açıklamalar yerine; herkesi karşısına alma pahasına yeni düşünce yolları kurmuştur. Fikirleri ve eserleriyle ölümünün 30. Yıldönümünde hala güncelliğini korumaktadır.
Kemal Tahir is a writer who has practiced social science through his novels in Turkish literature. He established the method like a social scientist and applied it on the structure and history of Turkish society. The themes of the state, banditry and Sheikh Bedreddin were chosen among the subjects he dealt with here, and the author's contradictory view was displayed. The proposal of "Karim State", which differs from the Western state theory, is discussed. He emphasized that the bandit is a common thief, not a noble robber, as in the example of Robin Hood, who dispenses justice and ensures fair distribution. He revealed the political weaknesses of Sheikh Bedreddin, whom the left exalted with an emotional approach. Instead of ready-made, stereotyped explanations; He has established new ways of thinking at the expense of putting everyone in front of him. With his ideas and works, he is still up to date on the 30th anniversary of his death.
