Günümüzde ‘‘gözetim toplumunda’’ yaşamaktayız. Gözetimin bu kadar ön plana çıkmasının sebebi bireysel olmayan ve kurallara dayalı gözetimin ortaya çıkmasıdır. Gözetim toplumunun getirmiş olduğu kolaylıklar da bulunmaktadır. Ancak sorunlarının büyüklüğü yanında bu kolaylıklar göz ardı edilebilir. Gözetim toplumu gözetleyene büyük bir güç sunmaktadır. Gözetleyen artık herkesin her şeyini bilebilmektedir. Gözetlenen birey her daim temkinli olmak durumundadır. Gözetim artık kamusal alandan özel alana taşmıştır. Gözetim durumu distopya metinlerinin ana konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Gözetim toplumu içerisinde bireyin özeli kalmamıştır. Birey her yaptığı ile bilinmekte ve bu durum ona hissedilmektedir. Gözetim ile birlikte mevcut güçler kendi varlığını devam ettirebilmektedirler. Bu yazıda da bu durumlar detaylıca incelenmiş ve sunulmuştur.
Today, we live in a “surveillance society”. The reason why surveillance has come to the fore is the emergence of non-individual and rules-based surveillance. There are also conveniences brought by the surveillance society. However, besides the size of the problems, these conveniences can be ignored. Surveillance society offers great power to the observer. The observer now knows everything about everyone. The observed individual should always be cautious. Surveillance has now moved from the public to the private sphere. Surveillance is the main subject of dystopian texts. There is no privacy of the individual in the surveillance society. The individual is known with everything he does and this situation is felt to him. With surveillance, existing forces can maintain their existence. In this article, these situations are examined and presented in detail.
