Kemal Tahir bir romancı olmasına rağmen, romanlarında dramını anlattığı insanı anlamak adına içinde yaşadığı toplumu anlamak için giriştiği okumalardan yaşadığı dönem toplumsal yapı tartışmalarında önemli izler bırakmıştır. 1960’lı yıllar yeni bir düzen aratışı anlamında da belli tartışmaların yaşandığı bir dönemdir. Kemal Tahir de bu tartışmalara katılmış ve yönlendirmiştir. Sosyalizm, feodalizm ve Asya Tipi Üretim Tarzı başlıklı bu tartışmalarda ileri sürdüğü görüşler dönemini biçimlendirdiği gibi sonradan Türk sosyolojisinde yerli bir sosyoloji görüşünün oluşmasını sağlamıştır. Bu fikirlerin kristalize olmuş halini Kemal Tahir’de Osmanlılık adı ile belirtmek mümkündür. Bu çalışmada Kemal Tahir’in Osmanlılık düşünce sürecinin gelişim süreciyle birlikte şekillenmesi ve bu bağlam içinde de Osmanlı’da ekonomi düşüncesi hakkındaki fikirleri ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır.
Although Kemal Tahir is a novelist, he has left important traces in the social structure debates of the period he lived, from the readings he attempted to understand the society in which he lived in order to understand the person whose drama he tells in his novels. The 1960s was also a period in which certain discussions were experienced in terms of the search for a new order. Kemal Tahir also participated and directed these discussions. The views he put farad in these debates titled socialism, feudalism and Asian Type of Production shaped his period and later enabled the formation of an indigenous sociological view in Turkish sociology. It is possible to indicate the crystallized state of these ideas in Kemal Tahir with the name of Ottomanism. In this study, the shaping of Kemal Tahir's Ottoman thought process with the development process and in this context, his ideas about economic thought in the Ottoman Empire will be tried to be revealed.
