Sosyolojide metodolojik tartışmalarda pozitivizm ve hermeneutiği bir karşıtlık içinde değerlendirme eğilimi bulunmaktadır. Fakat bu iki metodolojik duruşun bir dünya görüşü olarak aynı karşıtlığı barındırıp barındırmadığı pek sorgulanmamaktadır. Bu makalede, sosyolojide yöntem olarak öne çıkan pozitivizm ve hermeneutiğin tarihsel açıdan benzer bir politik duruşa sahip oldukları ve temelde statükocu bir toplum tasavvuruna hizmet ettikleri iddia edilmiştir. Bu iddianın doğrulanmasında Gadamer’in felsefî hermeneutiği odağa alınmış ve onun özünde statükocu unsurlar barındırdığı gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır.
In sociology, through methodological discussions, there is a tendency to consider positivism and hermeneutics in a contrasted manner. However, it is not questioned enough whether these two methodological views involve, as a world view, the same contrast. In this article, it is claimed that positivism and hermeneutics do involve, in terms of history, similar political stands and basically they serve to a status quo-oriented society imagination. For the verification of this claim, Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics has been mainly based on and it is shown that it, substantially, involves status quo-oriented factors.
