Avrasya Kalpgahı’nda [Heartland] bulunan Rusya, Doğu-Batı arasında her daim jeopolitik bir salınım yapmaktadır. Bu makale, Rusya’nın güncel jeopolitik yönelimini sosyolojik bir perspektiften inceleyerek, Batı ile olan tarihsel kopuşunun ve Doğu ile kurduğu stratejik yakınlaşmanın kuramsal temellerini analiz etmektedir. Çalışmada, nitel betimleyici yöntem esas alınarak Baykan Sezer’in “Doğu-Batı çatışması” kuramı merkeze alınmış; Rusya’nın Avrasyacı jeopolitik kodları, tarihsel birikim ve kültürel kimlik üzerinden değerlendirilmiştir. Ukrayna krizi sonrası hız kazanan Batı karşıtı söylem ve Doğu’ya yöneliş stratejisi, yalnızca dış politika tercihi olarak değil, aynı zamanda medeniyetler arası konumlanmanın yeniden inşası bağlamında ele alınmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, Rusya’nın jeopolitik paradigması, Batı merkezli modernleşme modeline karşı kültürel-siyasi bir alternatif oluşturma çabasıyla okunmaktadır. Araştırma, küresel güç dengelerinde yaşanan değişimlerin sosyolojik arka planını anlamaya katkı sunmayı hedeflemektedir.
Located in the Eurasian Heartland, Russia has always oscillated geopolitically between East and West. This article examines Russia’s current geopolitical orientation from a sociological perspective, analyzing the theoretical foundations of its historical rupture with the West and its strategic rapprochement with the East. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the study centers on Baykan Sezer’s “East–West conflict” theory, and evaluates Russia’s Eurasian geopolitical codes through the lenses of historical accumulation and cultural identity. The West-opposing discourse and Eastward strategy that gained momentum after the Ukraine crisis are interpreted not merely as foreign policy choices, but as part of a broader reconstruction of civilizational positioning. In this context, Russia’s geopolitical paradigm is viewed as an effort to construct a cultural and political alternative to the Western-centric modernization model. The study aims to contribute to understanding the sociological background of shifting global power dynamics.
